David Yassky

Dear friends,

I want to share some exciting news:
I am running for State Senate in a new district created by the recent reapportionment.

The district looks odd on a map – a long skinny corridor running from DUMBO in Brooklyn to South Beach in Staten Island. But it is a wonderful district, with diverse, vibrant neighborhoods that deserve strong representation in Albany. The seat is open, as the State Senators who currently represent various parts of the district either have been redistricted elsewhere or are leaving the Senate.

The brand of politics I have practiced for three decades – principled, practical, innovative and driven by our core values of compassion and love-your-neighbor-as yourself – is needed now more than ever. We must keep our streets and subways safe, build more affordable housing, attract solid jobs to NYC, fix the broken special-ed system, convert to clean energy, protect against climate-induced flooding and so much more.

My record in the City Council and in state government tells voters that I will not merely point out the problems, but will develop creative solutions and push them through to implementation. That is what I have done throughout my career.

This campaign is a sprint. Petitioning begins tomorrow, and early voting begins in 16 weeks. We need to mobilize and hit the streets now. I ask you: Please pitch in with our petitioning effort. Just one shift – morning, evening or weekend – makes a big difference. Email our campaign manager and he’ll get you set up: zechariah@davidyassky.com

Of course, we need financial support as well. If you are able to make a contribution of any amount, here is the link: Contribute

I am so grateful for your support. Politics is about coming together to shape our collective future. I have loved working side-by-side with so many of you in service of progressive change, and I am enthusiastic about this opportunity to do so again.
